About Heavy Duty Ball Bearing Hinges: Hinges include Ball Bearing between the knuckles which reduce friction bought on by the movement of the hinge. The Heavy Duty hinges have a thicker leaf than residential plain bearing hinges, Ball Bearing hinges will insure a smooth open and close, particularly on exterior doors. They should be used for heavy or high traffic doors. For non heavy traffic, consider a Plain Bearing Hinge.

About the Material: Steel is a strong metal that is significantly cheaper than Solid Brass. Its superb strength makes it suitable for heavier doors. However, steel is not as durable as brass, as it will rust over time.
