Toolfest 2009 Gives Customers One-on-One Time

Date Posted: Wednesday, September 02, 2009

Prize winner Geoff Hardy with owner Sam Giannetti.
The floor was abuzz throughout Preston Hardware’s 15th annual Toolfest on Aug. 26 and 27, 2009. More than 2,000 visitors flocked to Sala San Marco on Preston Street to take in tool demonstrations, meet with manufacturers, and ask questions to dozens of hardware experts.

“There were a lot of good questions and concerns from our clients,” said Joey Frangione, Assistant Store Manager at Preston Hardware. “That’s the whole idea behind Toolfest – to have customers’ questions answered.”

Vendors in attendance at Toolfest displayed their wares and interacted one-on-one with their customers. “The power tool companies – Makita, Bosch Tools, DeWalt – seemed to be very busy,” Joey noted. Customers were able to chat with representatives from many of North America’s top tool manufacturers, such as Lenox Saw, Gray Tools, and Master Lock.

Visitors saw brand-new tools and hardware that will soon be on shelves at Preston Hardware. This sneak-peek and the resulting customer feedback is one of the driving factors behind Toolfest. “It’s a launch pad for introducing new product lines,” Joey said.

At Ottawa’s biggest and best tool show, attendees were greeted with hourly door prizes, one-time special pricing on many items, and were entered to take home a $5,000 grand prize.

Geoff Hardy was announced as the winner of the grand prize, containing many professional-quality power and hand tools. The package included a Delta Machinery table saw, a DeWalt planer, a bandsaw from Steel City Tool Works, ladders, and many other top-of-the-line products.

Much more than “a nice package for any woodworker,” Armando Giannetti, Assistant Store Manager said. “It’s more of an industrial starter kit.”

Next year’s Toolfest promises to be just as enjoyable and informative, with even more demonstrations, North America’s top vendors, and great deals for customers. Joey said that despite this year’s great sales, many demonstrations, and other successes, “we’re always looking at ways to improve Preston Hardware’s Toolfest.”
